Which type of membership is right for you?

FULL MEMBERSHIP - $120/yr

Any person engaged in the work of geology or petroleum exploration or related research, provided he/she is a graduate of an institution of University standing, in which institution he/she has done his/her major work in geology or related earth science. Active members are eligible to vote and to hold office in the Society.


ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP - $120/yr
Any person ineligible for Full membership but demonstrating an interest in geology or related sciences or in Petroleum exploration. Associates shall enjoy all privileges of Full membership except that they shall neither vote nor hold office in the Society.


EMERITUS MEMBERSHIP - $60/yr
Any active Full member in good standing who has maintained 30 consecutive years of membership and is no longer earning employment income from within the Energy Geosciences.

RECENT GRADUATE MEMBERSHIP - $60/yr
Any person engaged in the work of geology or petroleum exploration or related research, provided he/she is a graduate of an institution of University standing within the last two years, in which institution he/she has done his/her major work in geology or related earth science. Active members are eligible to vote and to hold office in the Society.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP - FREE

Any student enrolled in a university or college across Canada as an undergraduate or graduate student of a geoscience department is eligible for a CSPG Student Membership. Student members shall neither vote nor hold office in the Society, nor do they have access to the Membership Directory

Membership Policies:

1. Members have one month after their expiry date of online access to renew their membership.
2. After lapsing more than one month, a member must call the CSPG office to renew their membership, or send an email to membership@cspg.org to setup a new billing for online payment.
3. When a membership has lapsed within one year of the expiry date there is no penalty and then new membership year commences on the date of payment.
4. When a membership has lapsed for more than one year, the member has two options:
          - Pay for the missed year(s) to maintain the member's original join date (advantageous to be considered for Long Time Member and Emeritus status when 30 years of consecutive membership has been achieved).
          - Do not pay for missed year(s) and the join date and new membership year commences on the date of payment.  Member will lose the the ability to count all previous membership years towards Long Time Member and Emeritus status.
