The Canadian Petroleum Industry grew on the back of the exploration and innovation of the men and women in Canada's geoscience community. When economics get too thin, when regulations change, when costs soar, or when the 'treadmill' looks like it is grinding to a halt, we have always called on the brash explorers and optimists in our industry; the geologists, geophysicists and petrophysicists, to resurrect our business. When our explorers are thrown into the crucible, which of these old adages do you believe drives the evolution of ideas?

"Necessity is the mother of invention"
We are blessed that all of our professions co-exist
in a tight geoscience circle centered here in Calgary. All the component
pieces of our industry, the E&P companies, the service companies, the educational institutions and the government
agencies, work in close proximity, stimulating new innovation and
concepts.
The 2008 Convention is a joint meeting of the Canadian Society of
Petroleum Geologists (CSPG), the Canadian Society of Exploration
Geophysicists (CSEG) and the Canadian Well Logging Society (CWLS).
On behalf of the CSPG, CSEG, CWLS and the Organizing Committee, we
invite you to participate as a presenter, exhibitor, sponsor, or
delegate. This convention is a partnership between the three societies.
It is a collaborative relationship that is to continue for future
conventions.
